About the Center

Sage’s mission of Be. Know. Do. emphasizes the importance of active and Engaged Learning and resume-building for students. CIRC does exactly that. In most cases, students in the CIRC continue to pursue careers in law enforcement or other fields in criminal justice.

The Criminal Investigation Resource Center

The Criminal Investigation Resource Center (CIRC) will open at Russell Sage College in January 2024, under the direction of Dr. Christina Lane, a criminologist and an associate professor of criminal justice at Russell Sage. Lane previously co-founded the Cold Case Analysis Center at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York with Dr. Chris Kunkle.

With its opening in January 2024, the CIRC becomes only the second center of its kind in New York state and one of less than a dozen such centers in the nation.

“The Criminal Investigation Resource Center at Russell Sage expands upon my previous cold case work in the college environment by understanding the resources, professionalism, and commitment  required to appropriately assist law enforcement.”

– Dr. Christina Lane, criminologist, associate professor of criminal justice, and director of the CIRC

CIRC Leadership

The CIRC believes that crime is a multi-disciplinary phenomenon, which requires the respectful collaboration of many people, ranging from practical applications to academics.

Call on Expert Assistance

In addition to the CIRC’s leadership, the center employs the experience of a multitude of experts in various areas to explore every aspect of unresolved cases.
